Why Women Need More Sleep Than Men [TRUTH FINALLY REVEALED]

why-women-need-more-sleep-than-men

How true is the above subject? Do Women really need more sleep than Men? This has always been a hot debate between most couples fighting over who gets to sleep more. According to a study done by Loughborough University’s Sleep Research Center ,it is proven that women really needed more sleep than men and it is roughly by an additional 20 more minutes compared to men. So why does women need more sleep than men?

Why is this so? (Proven Facts)

The main reason is because Women tend to always multi-task, doing a lot of things at one time, hence using more of their actual brain than Men do. If you cannot relate to this, try imagining what Women normally do. They have to juggle between work, cooking meals, childcare and other random works.

Besides that, Women are also more prone to higher level of psychological distress, and have amplified feelings of depression, anger and hostility. Men on the other hand, have a lower satellite receiving these sorts of feelings.

How does more sleep help Women?

According to Professor Jim Horne, Britain’s leading expert in sleep science, when a Women sleeps more, it allows more time for their brain to recover and repair itself. During deep sleep, the cortex (part of the brain responsible for thought memory) disengages from the senses and goes into recovery mode.

The bottom line is, Women’s brains are typically more complex compared to Men, hence needing more sleeping time to relax and recover. The more you use your brain during the day, the more time is needed for the “recovery period”. If a man has a more challenging job that involves a lot of critical thinking and decision-making, they may probably need more sleep compared to an average male, though probably still not as much as females.

Conclusion

There are a few factors that can affect the Women’s quantity and quality of sleep, for example, suffering from insomnia, sleep disturbances during pregnancy, worrying about problems thus losing sleep and lastly, sleeping difficulties during menopause due to hot flashes. Therefore, I highly recommend a man to be more patient and understanding when dealing with their other half.

While it is easy for a man to just say to their other half, “alright then, since it is proven, lets just add another additional 20 minutes to your sleep”, think twice as it is actually not as easy as you think.
